POINTS OUT THAT INSTEAD OF CALCULATING EXERGY LOSSES, A SECOND LAW ANALYSIS CAN BE USED FOR THE QUANTITATIVE DETERMINATION OF THE LOSS IN REFRIGERATION OUTPUTOR THE REQUIRED ADDITIONAL HEAT INPUT CAUSED BY EACH LOSS MECHANISM. STATES THE RESULTS DO NOT DEPEND ON THE CHOICE OF A REFERENCE STATE. DEMONSTRATES THE APPLICATION OF THE METHOD BY ANALYSING A SIMPLE SINGLE-STAGE CHILLER WORKING WITH WATER-LITHIUM BROMIDE.
