AN EXPLANATION IS GIVEN OF REASONS FOR, AND THE PRINCIPLE OF, TWO-STAGE OPERATION. DESCRIPTION AND COMPARISON OF DIFFERENT INTERSTAGE COOLING SYSTEMS IS DEALT WITH.
