Type of article: Article

Summary

LAMINAR NATURAL CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER TO SUPERCRITICAL HELIUM HAS BEEN STUDIED NUMERICALLY FROM A PLANE VERTICAL SURFACE UNDER CONSTANT WALL HEAT FLUX CONDITIONS. RESULTS ARE OBTAINED FOR HELIUM FOR THE FOLLOWING RANGE OF PARAMETERS: PRESSURE: 230 TO 350 KPA, WALL HEAT FLUX: 100 TO 2,000 W/M2, TEMPERATURE: 2.5 TO 7.5 K. AN EMPIRICAL CORRELATION IS PROPOSED TO EVALUATE THE LOCAL HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENT.
