Theoretical performance of impedance probes for void fraction measurements.

Author(s) : FOSSA M., DEVIA F.

Summary

The performance of ring and half-ring shaped electrodes for measuring the electrical impedance of gas-liquid mixtures (and solid-liquid mixtures) in pipes has been studied theoretically by means of the numerical solution of Laplace problem. The study is aimed at defining the best geometry of the electrodes to make the void fraction measurement as insensitive as possible to the flow pattern.
