Summary

A PREVIOUS REPORT ANALYZED THE THERMAL BOUNDARY LAYER IN THE CORNER OF TWO VERTICAL RIGHT-ANGLED WALLS IN LAMINAR FREE CONVECTION. THIS STUDY ANALYZES THESE SAME TWO WALLS PLUS A HORIZONTAL BOTTOM WALL. THERMOMETRY AND THE FORMULATION OF THE SHAPE OF THE THERMAL BOUNDARY LAYER IN THE WALL CORNERS IS DISCUSSED. TO ASCERTAIN THE APPLICATION OF THIS FORMULA, IRRESPECTIVE OF THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WALL SURFACE AND THE AIR, A VERIFICATION EXPERIMENT WAS CARRIED OUT AND SIMULATED BY NUMERICAL ANALYSIS. THE RESULTS HAVE CONFIRMED THAT THE FORMULA CAN BE APPLIED WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE WALL SURFACE AND THE AIR IS FROM 15 TO 80 K.
