Thermal comfort and air quality in eight office buildings: an interim report.

Author(s) : ROWE D. M., WILKE S. E.

Type of article: Article

Summary

Fewer than 55% of occupants (and, in most buildings, far fewer) were satisfied with temperature comfort and air quality vectors in any of the air conditioned buildings surveyed, which represented a broad cross section of commercial office space in Sydney. The building with the best-satisfied occupants is ventilated through the windows with supplementary cooling and heating on demand by way of room air conditioners. A building without cooling and with heating in winter by electric bar radiant heaters is rated better than some of the fully air conditioned buildings and little worse than others.
