Summary

Magnesium oxide/water/magnesium hydroxide (MgO/H2O/Mg(OH)2) thermochemical heat storage was discussed experimentally. Composited tablet (EM tablet) obtained by mixing Mg(OH)2 and expanded graphite (EG) was developed for thermal conductivity enhancement of the material. Packed bed reactor experiment using EM tablets and pure Mg(OH)2 pellets were studied for these materials’ thermal performance evaluation. It was recognized that EM composites had higher heat-storage rates by enhancement of its thermal conductivity than pure Mg(OH)2 pellet, and also optimized mixing ratio of a was existed corresponding with operation condition. EM is expected to have higher thermal performance, and to contribute on better energy utilization of high temperature heats.
