Summary
IREQ index derives its name from the combination of the letter I, symbol of the thermal resistance of clothes, with REQ, like requirement; in fact, it evaluates the metabolic stress induced by cold in the human organism. In the paper a method is presented of calculating the IREQ value as a function of air temperature, radiant temperature, air humidity, air velocity and the rate of metabolic activity. As an example of the application of the method, IREQ values are provided for a variety of conditions. E.F.
