IIR document

Thermodynamic design of a ground source heat pump system.

Summary

The authors concentrate on the cooling mode operation. The emphasis is put on the entropy generation analysis. Using second law analysis, an optimum pipe diameter can be defined as a function of circulating fluid flow rate and a power input characteristic has been derived as a function of condensing temperature. Finally, the total cost of this system over a specified period of time has been evaluated as a function of some design parameters.
