Thermodynamics of absorption refrigeration.

Author(s) : TOZER R. M., JAMES R. W.

Type of article: Periodical article

Summary

Describes a study to determine the thermodynamic basis which allows a full understanding of the potential and limitations of absorption refrigeration cycles. States the study is theoretical but is based on the lithium bromide applications. Notes that several papers in recent years have listed different COP formulae for ideal absorption cycles. Investigates the thermodynamic principles involved to obtain simple formulae, in a similar way to the Carnot cycle. Includes the analysis of single, double, triple and N stages for cooling and heat recovery and also a review for heat pump applications.
