The author describes heat transfer that takes place along with conduction and convection: the piston effect and studies performed on it (particularly studies investigating the piston effect of heat diffusion have led to the development of tanks of liquid helium stored under supercritical conditions) are used in order to pressurize the oxygen tank of Ariane 5.
