Summary

PREVIOUS STUDIES HAVE ILLUSTRATED THE IMMUNOSTIMULATING EFFECT OF CRYOSURGERY IN PROSTATIC CANCER PATIENTS. TOTAL ANDROGEN SUPPRESSION HAS PROVIDED AMPLE EVIDENCE OF ITS EFFECTIVENESS IN THE TREATMENT OF ADVANCED CASES. COMBINATION OF THESE TWO TREATMENTS IN A SERIES OF 11 PATIENTS WITH STAGE C AND 9 WITH STAGE D CARCINOMA OF THE PROSTATE PRODUCED BETTER RESULTS THAN TOTAL ANDROGEN BLOCKADE ALONE, PARTICULARLY WITH RESPECT TO SURVIVAL, LOCAL PROGRESSION AND MICTURITION.
