Type of article: Article

Summary

DESCRIBES A NUMERICAL STUDY OF THE TRANSFER RATES ASSOCIATED WITH SINGLE-SIDED VENTILATION. DISCUSSES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE HEAT TRANSFER RATE ACROSS THE PLANE OF THE WINDOW OPENING AND THE MEAN TEMPERATURE MAINTAINED IN THE ROOM. THE ROOM IS REPRESENTED BY A RECTANGULAR TWO-DIMENSIONAL CAVITY EXPOSED TO THE EXTERNAL FLOW FROM ONE SIDE ONLY. STUDIES PARTIALLY CLOSED CAVITIES TO SIMULATE THE WINDOW EFFECT. ALSO DESCRIBES THE EFFECT OF THE AREA OF HEAT RELEASE ON THE CAVITY WALLS.
