FOR THE TRANSPORT OF FOODSTUFFS, ROAD VEHICLES ARE PREFERRED TO RAIL VEHICLES IN FRANCE. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE ROAD ROLLING STOCK IS STRESSED. ACCORDING TO THE VOLUME OF TRUCKS AND THEIR FINAL USE, THEY ARE COOLED EITHER BY INDIVIDUAL UNITS OR BY EUTECTIC PLATES. THEIR OPERATING CONDITIONS ARE DISCUSSED, SHOWING THE POSSIBILITY OF USING CONTAINERS COOLED BY SUBLIMATION OF CARBON DIOXIDE ICE, PLACED ON VEHICLES DELIVERING FRESH PRODUCTS.
