Trends of room/packaged air conditioners in the world.

Summary

1998 world shipments of room air conditioners (RACs) mainly used for a room (window RACs and ductless split RACs), and those of packaged air conditioners (PACs) used for light commercial service and for whole houses (single PACs, ductless split PACs, and ducted split PACs) are estimated to be 34 million units, thus showing a slight decrease from 1997. RACs number 24 million units, and PACs including unitary type applied mainly in the USA number 10 million units. Trends in different countries and regions are reported.
