Trigeneration for the world fair Expo'98 Lisbon.

Summary

The trigeneration plant providing electricity, heat and refrigeration for the Expo'98 World Fair in Lisbon, Portugal, has been in successful operation since March 1998. It includes a number of innovative features: stratified chilled water thermal energy storage, the largest of its kind to-date in Europe; absorption chillers connected in series with screw compression chillers using environmentally friendly ammonia refrigerant; gas turbine inlet air cooling, enhancing gas turbine output during hot weather. The buildings constructed for Expo'98 will subsequently be used as a commercial centre, which may later be expanded. From the start the trigeneration project was developed to satisfy these requirements.
