Summary

A solar plant was installed with a surface area of 440 m2 of evacuated-tube collectors, a reflecting surface of the same area and an absorption refrigeration system for air-conditioning the CERIT building of Pordenone. A 43 m3 heat-storage unit, at temperatures of 80-90 deg C, and a 150 m3 cold-storage unit were also installed. These components form the largest solar cooling plant in Europe. After two years of operation, it is possible to evaluate the project as a whole, and to appreciate the contribution of the flat solar reflector and the working of the absorption unit.
