THE EFFECTS OF ULTRASTRUCTURAL AND METABOLIC CHARACTERISTICS OF LIVER ON LOCAL FREEZING HAVE BEEN STUDIED BY MEANS OF ELECTRON MICROSCOPIC, FREEZE-SUBSTITUTION, STEREOMETRIC AND ELECTRON MICROSCOPIC CYTOCHEMICAL (ACID PHOSPHATASE, ATPASE) METHODS. THE PATTERNS OF LIVER CELL ULTRASTRUCTURE ALTERATION RESULTING FROM COOLING DOWN TO 263, 243 AND 93 K (-10, -30 AND -180 DEG C) ARE DESCRIBED.
