Summary

THE UNSTEADY LAMINAR INCOMPRESSIBLE NONSIMILAR BOUNDARY LAYER FLOW OVER TWO-DIMENSIONAL AND AXISYMMETRIC BODIES HAS BEEN STUDIED WHERE THE UNSTEADINESS AND (OR) NONSIMILARITY ARE (IS) DUE TO THE FREE STREAM VELOCITY, MASS TRANSFER, TRANSVERSE CURVATURE, AND WALL TEMPERATURE. THE RESULTS INDICATE THAT THE SKIN FRICTION AND HEAT TRANSFER ARE STRONGLY DEPENDENT ON THE UNSTEADY FREE STREAM VELOCITY. THE HEAT TRANSFER IS STRONGLY AFFECTED BY THE PRANDTL NUMBER, VARIATION OF WALL TEMPERATURE WITH TIME AND DISSIPATION PARAMETER, AND THE EFFECT IS MORE PRONOUNCED FOR LARGE TIMES.
