Summary

In this paper is presented a project to study the feasibility of a polygeneration system using plastic waste for the supply of electricity, heat and cooling in a crude dehydration plant. In this project the results of a pilot plant will be used to obtain the benefits of the pyrolysis process of plastic waste to contribute to the reduction of the plant fossil fuel consumption. To determine the electricity and cold needs, real operating data of a crude dehydration plant are used. The exhaust gases of the engines will be used to drive an ORC system for the generation of additional electrical energy and an absorption cooling to cover the air conditioning needs of the buildings of the plant and the cooling of the air supply to the engines to increase its power and reduce their emissions in turbocharged engines. Additionally, the heat of the process water (around 100ºC) will be integrated into the ORC system. (Article in Spanish.)
