Summary

At the end of December 1994, the volume of member public cold stores amounted to 5,238,000 m3 while it represented 5,475,000 m3 at the end of 1993. That is to say a reduction of 147,200 m3. This drop is due to the partial or complete closing of plants. Overcapacity is a characteristic common to each region. In the North for instance, the recent buildings added to the signficant volumes already existent in Belgium and Holland as well as the competition between plants non specialised in storage make the situation particularly difficult.
