VENTILATING EFFICIENCY.

Author(s) : SKARET E., MATHISEN H. M.

Summary

DUE TO ENERGY SHORTAGE, THERE SEEMS TO BE SOME CONFLICTING INTEREST BETWEEN HYGIENE, COMFORT AND ENERGY CONSERVATION. THIS IS TRUE IF THE ONLY WAY TO IMPROVE AIR QUALITY IS TO INCREASE THE AIR CHANGE RATE. THE AUTHORS SHOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO DECREASE CONTAMINATION IN THE WORKING ZONE AND TO INCREASE VENTILATION EFFICIENCY, WITHOUT INCREASING THE AIR SUPPLY. THEY EXPLAIN DIFFERENT METHODS FOR MEASURING VENTILATION EFFICIENCY, SOME OF WHICH WERE TESTED AT THE LABORATORY. DIFFERENT VENTILATION SYSTEMS WERE TESTED ALSO.
