THESE EXCHANGERS ENABLE THE ECONOMIC USE OF ENERGY WHEN THE VENTILATION AIR IS HANDLED HORIZONTALLY INSTEAD OF VERTICALLY. WITH AIR FLOW RATES OF 400 TO 2,800 M3/HR DURING A 12-HOUR OPERATING PERIOD, THE MAXIMUM HEAT QUANTITIES THAT CAN BE HELD IN STORAGE ARE 1,000 TO 2,000 W/M3. FOR CONTINUOUS OPERATION THE SOIL HEAT AND MATTER EXCHANGERS HAVE TO BE OPERATED ALTERNATELY.
