Very-low-temperature thermometry.
Thermométrie à très basse température.
Author(s) : GODFRIN H.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The present international temperature scale (ITS-90) is only defined for temperatures higher than 0.65 K while commercial dilution cryostats can currently reach 5 mK. For the moment, only a few specialized laboratories are actually able to develop good thermometry. The author describes how it is possible to define a practical thermometric scale covering a wide range of temperatures (from 0.1 K to 4.2 K). He also describes how to construct primary and secondary thermometers usable by both industry and research.
