Summary
THIS ARTICLE DESCRIBES THE THEORETICAL AND EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES RELATED TO THE ZONE MELTING OF EUTECTICS. IT REVIEWS DIFFERENT TYPES OF PHASE DIAGRAMS. THE AUTHORS PROPOSE A MECHANISM FOR THE ORIGIN AND THE FORMATION OF CELLS, DENDRITES AND CELL TRANSITIONS IN EUTECTICS. THEY UNDERLINE THE POSSIBLE USE OF SOME EUTECTICS AS HIGH TEMPERATURE MATERIALS BECAUSE OF THEIR UNUSUAL GOOD THERMAL STABILITY. J. V.
