Brazil: 94.5% employability rate for trained professionals in the refrigeration sector

The refrigeration course offered by the SENAI, the National Service of Industrial Learning in Brazil, has a 94.5% employability rate for its graduates.

The IIR estimated that about 5 workers out of 1000 worldwide have a job linked to the manufacturing, installation, maintenance and servicing of all type of refrigeration equipment [1]. The refrigeration sector faces a growing need for trained professionals as the demand for cooling is steadily increasing, fuelled by population growth and climate change.

In Brazil, a survey conducted by SENAI, the National Service of Industrial Learning (“Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial”) revealed that their technical course in refrigeration and air conditioning reached an employability rate of more than 94.5% of its graduates [2].

SENAI, or Serviço Nacional de Aprendizagem Industrial ('National Service for Industrial Training'), is a network of secondary level professional schools established and maintained by the Brazilian Confederation of Industry (a patronal syndicate). SENAI is one of the most important institutions in the country providing formal training for specialised workers for the industry [3].
