European Union: fall in HFC usage in 2011

According to the recent European Environment Agency (EEA) “Fluorinated greenhouse gases 2011” summary on data reported under the “F-Gas Regulation”, F-gas production (-5% in weight), imports (-6%) and intra-EU sales (-12%) of F-gases fell between 2011 and 2012.
According to the recent European Environment Agency (EEA) “Fluorinated greenhouse gases 2011” summary on data reported under the “F-Gas Regulation” by 120 individual companies, F-gas production (-5% in weight), imports (-6%) and intra-EU sales (-12%) of F-gases fell between 2011 and 2012. Exports increased by 5%. 
HFC sales show a decrease of 13%. Expressed in CO2-equivalents, the decrease in F-gas sales is 11%, and in HFC sales 17%.

For refrigeration and air conditioning, the most important F-gas applications (62% of sales in weight), 53 571 tonnes of HFCs were sold in Europe, compared with 69 404 tonnes in 2010, a decrease of 21% in weight, and 25% in CO2 equivalents.
F-gases contained in imported equipment are not included in the reported data.
