Leak detection thanks to thermal imaging cameras

Thermal imaging cameras can be specially designed for the detection of refrigerant gases.
In order to achieve this, FLIR GF 304 thermal imaging cameras contain a cooled quantum well infrared photodetector and a cold band filter which allows them to visualize gases in the 8-8.6 µm waveband and temperatures ranging from -20°C to 500°C.
After the cameras capture images of a suspected leak, a report including a visual representation is sent out.
The technology reportedly facilitates efficient and reliable leak detection where traditional detection systems proved to be difficult.
