The 21st European Conference on RACHP technologies is just around the corner

Co-organised by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Institute of Refrigeration (IIR), and Centro Studi Galileo, the European Conference will return to the Politecnico di Milano on June 12–13, 2025.

 

This biennial event, presenting the latest technologies in the refrigeration and heating fields, will bring together leading experts, researchers, and institutional representatives to address the challenges and opportunities ahead. Across five sessions and over 40 scheduled speeches, Presidents and Speakers will provide insights and key recommendations for the near future.”

 

The topics will not only be technical but will also cover policies, inclusivity, and environmental protection, while analysing the sector’s responses to the recently enacted regulatory changes. The five sessions will focus on:

• New refrigerants and energy efficiency     

The first session will explore the opportunities presented by alternative refrigerants in relation to the European F-Gas Regulation EU 573/2024 and energy efficiency advancements.

• Components and technical innovations

A deep dive into designing technologies with alternative refrigerants, combining efficiency and environmental respect.

• Policy and training

Discussions will center on evolving regulations, strategies for training and certification, and the new Italian decree on PFASs.

• Energy efficiency and heat pumps

A session dedicated to green cooling solutions and the role of heat pumps in the energy transition.

• The cold chain

The final session will cover the distribution and preservation of food and vaccines, with a focus on refrigerated transport and digital controls.

 

Inclusivity and future perspectives will take center stage during the special session, Women in Refrigeration, developed in collaboration with the INWIC network. This session aims to foster diversity and promote technical and engineering careers for women in the sector. Additionally, the session will celebrate the winner of the third Women in Cooling Video Competition, organised by AREA and World Refrigeration Day with ATF’s support.

 

The conference will conclude with recommendations from key industry figures, including Yosr Allouche (IIR), Jim Curlin (UNEP), and Marco Buoni (AREA), and it will also celebrate the 50^th anniversary of Centro Studi Galileo.
