Job summary
We are seeking a Scientific Translator (English to Spanish) to support the translation of IIR’s technical publications and other scientific reports. This consulting role requires a translator with proven experience in scientific and technical content, particularly in the fields of refrigeration, thermal engineering, and energy systems.
Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Translate technical and scientific documents from English to Spanish with precision and clarity.
- Ensure consistency in terminology across publications, aligned with IIR standards.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to validate technical accuracy.
- Adapt content for Spanish-speaking audiences while preserving scientific integrity.
- Support the translation of infographics, summaries, and policy briefs.
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Translation, Linguistics, Technical Communication, or a related field.
- Specialisation or demonstrated experience in scientific or technical translation, particularly in engineering or energy systems, is highly desirable.
Qualifications
- Native-level proficiency in Spanish and excellent command of English.
- Proven experience translating scientific and technical content, preferably in refrigeration, HVAC, or energy systems.
- Familiarity with terminology used in international policy frameworks (climate, energy, SDGs) is a plus.
- Experience working with academic or research institutions is an asset.
