Résumé

The refrigerant propane has gained increased interest in the public environmental discussion. The design of compressors for R290 and the safe application is discussed. The compressor range and target markets are presented. Appliance test results are showing very good performance with this refrigerant in small hermetic systems. The impact and limitations due to safety standards and directives is explained. Extension of application possibilities through development of the standards are under preparation.
