Résumé

The Mediterranean fruit fly is an endemic pest in the area of the Uruguay River in Argentina. Postharvest disinfestation treatments are required to export citrus to restrictive markets like the United States. Cold quarantine treatments are used to kill this pest. However, lemons (Citrus limon, L. Burm. f.) can be sensitive to chilling injury. Research was carried out to determine the effect of cold treatment (16 days, 2 °C) on the quality of Argentine "Genova" lemons and of prestorage heat treatment (conditioning) to minimize rind injury. Chilling injury was low in fruits exposed to cold.
