Résumé

In the 1999-2000 growth season, peach trees cv Flavor Crest in the south of Uruguay were sprayed with 4% calcium choride at the beginning of the expansion cellular stage of fruit development. Half of the harvested fruits were embedded in a solution with 2% calcium chloride during two minutes. Fruit quality was evaluated at harvest, after 10 and 15 days stored under normal atmosphere (0 °C, 90% relative humidity) and after 2 and 4 days of shelf life (22 °C, 65-70% relative humidity). Good fruit quality was kept after being stored for 15 days plus 4 days in shelf life, arriving during the Christmas period, which resulted in economic advantages.
