Résumé

The authors describe technologies to produce binary ice, capacity range of binary ice makers and applications: supermarket applications (chiller and freezer cabinets, cold stores); load shifting and load shaving; retrofitting existing refrigeration systems; quick cooling of fluids such as milk, juice, oil, etc.; separation and concentration of solutions and mixtures, desalination; immersion cooling of fish, shrimps, fruit, vegetables and packed food; microcooling - cooling of micro-devices in research and development; district cooling; and ask when is a binary ice installation "nonsense"? They state that the most novel technology for the generation of binary ice is the water vapour compression and the use of "water as refrigerant". According to this article, it is possible to generate cooling with electric power or (waste) heat.
