Résumé

The purpose of this first IIR informatory note on food is to tell how refrigeration can improve everyone's diet, both quantitatively and qualitatively. The note describes: reducing post-harvest losses; improving food safety; improving food supply to the cities; benefitting from international trade (foodstuff imports, exports of high-value-added produce).
