Salmonelle porcine : identification et analyse quantitative des risques lors de l'élevage et du transport.

Identification and quantification of risk factors in animal management and transport regarding Salmonella in pigs.

Résumé

Currently the most important risk factors are lack of farm hygiene, (re)contaminated feed, the use of broad spectrum antibiotics, a positive Salmonella-status of animals before transport, lack of transport hygiene, and transport stress. The role of on-farm contamination cycles with endemic Salmonella spp. is so important that the role of other factors is difficult to ascertain. It is concluded that the farm-phase forms the core of all current problems. Recommendations are given for breeding and finishing farms.
