Résumé

The Pijnacker Distribution Centre (the Netherlands) came on stream in 1998 and incorporates the latest technology in order picking, logistics management, stock rotation and customer service. The centre has 207,000 m2 under roof and a surrounding paved area of 80,000 m2. The temperature controlled area accounts for 17,800 m2 with two temperature regimes. The major portion is held at 0 to 2 deg C while a partitioned section is held at 14 deg C for produce and fruit such as oranges, bananas, etc. Products held in the 14 deg C area are moved into the dispatch area (held at 0 to 2 deg C) approximately 30 minutes before being loaded.
