Summary

Applicable to most of new buildings from the 1st of January 2013, the French Thermal Regulation RT 2072 sets up a new energy performance evaluation method for buildings. Bordered by official texts published in the French gazette, several administrative documents are introduced as well as a new calculation method and new criteria for evaluating the construction quality'! The new calculation method returns the 3 thermal indicators which are the BB/O, Cep and TiC. Those indicators evaluate the well conception of the envelope of the building, the well conception of the systems which will be installed and the summer thermal comfort. Due to the high levels of performance required, an evolution of conception and construction methods, which already started with low consumption buildings in France, might keep on. Then, the running of buildings will be an issue to be anticipated, the impact of human behaviour being more and more apparent on the behaviour of buildings.
