Summary

A small scale multi-section vertical absorption heat exchanger (AHE) using only stainless steel as shell and inner heat transfer material was designed, developed and applied in novel low-grade waste heat source district heating system. The multi-section absorbing-evaporating process was designed to realize large inlet/outlet external fluid temperature difference in evaporator. The performance of the newly developed AHE in both steady state and dynamic conditions were tested and studied. The AHE was then installed outside of a residential building to realize building level space heating. The return primary water temperature was reduced
from original 45?~50? to 25?~30?.
