A COMPUTER MODEL FOR SCROLL COMPRESSORS.

Summary

THE AUTHORS HAVE PRODUCED A REAL-TIME, GLOBAL COMPUTER MODEL TO ANALYSE GEOMETRIC, DYNAMIC, THERMODYNAMIC AND HEAT TRANSFER CHARACTERISTICS OF SCROLL COMPRESSORS FOR A VARIETY OF CONDITIONS AND APPLICATIONS. THE MODEL SIMULATES THE COMPRESSION PROCESS FOR ALL POSSIBLE GAS POCKETS ALLOWING FOR INTERPOCKET LEAKAGE. VANE GEOMETRIES AND PORT CONFIGURATIONS CAN BE STUDIED AND POWER REQUIREMENT INCLUDES COULOMBIC AND HYDRODYNAMIC FRICTION. SPEED CAN BE VARIED AND OVERALL ENERGY BALANCE COMPUTED, RESULTING IN MASS FLOW AND EFFICIENCY PREDICTIONS. SOME ASSUMPTIONS HAVE BEEN MADE, BUT THE SIMULATION COMPARES WELL WITH MEASURED RESULTS.
