A favourable context for heat pumps and their applications.

Les thermopompes : un contexte favorable, des applications.

Author(s) : CHAPON C.

Summary

Heat pumps "pump" energy contained in an outside source (air, water, soil) and reduce primary energy consumption, hence its environmental and economic value. A cooling function has been added to reversible air conditioning options, so as to meet new needs and expectations. The development of new components has significantly improved heat pump technology. Different applications are successively dealt with: fan-coil installations, water-loop heat pumps, "rooftops", reversible individual air conditioners, heating-cooling floors, thermodynamic double-flow systems. Heat pumps are currently to be found more in the tertiary sector, but their applications should increase in the residential sector.
