A method for increasing the energy efficiency of residential CO2 heat pump water heater systems.

Summary
In order to improve heat exchange between a gas cooler in a transcritical CO2 cycle and a domestic water circuit, it is recommended to use a storage tank with removable insulation to separate heated water from non-heated water, thus preventing hot and cold water from mixing.
