Summary
INSA Strasbourg and Robin Sun, a French company that was set up recently, have developed a new building component: a solar collector integrated in the glass façade. This component makes it possible to harness the solar flux at the level of the glazing, thanks to a secondary refrigerant flowing inside a copper coil placed between the two sheets of glass forming the insulating glazing. This concept may constitute an answer to the possible integration, at architectural design level, of solar collectors in the glazed façades of modern buildings. The results obtained enable architects, engineers and users to harness solar energy, which is free, and to comply with criteria governing the aesthetic appearance of buildings.
