Summary

A RELATIONSHIP WAS ESTABLISHED BETWEEN THE OVERALL DAILY RADIATION AND THE PRODUCT OF THE DAILY TEMPERATURE VARIATION IN MAXIMUM SUN EXPOSURE HOURS. IT WAS OBTAINED BY ANALYSING THE HEAT BALANCE OF A SYSTEM MADE UP OF A LAYER OF ATMOSPHERIC AIR AND AN ADJACENT GROUND LAYER (BOTH LAYERS HAVING THE SUITABLE SURFACE AREA AND THICKNESS). A CHECK WAS MADE WITH SUCH A CORRELATION FOR SEVEN ITALIAN TOWNS AND THE RESULTS ARE DEMONSTRATED TO BE, IN GENERAL, BETTER THAN THOSE OBTAINED IN THE SAME PLACES BY USING ANGSTROM TYPE OR SIMILAR RELATIONSHIPS.
