Author(s) : MASOERO M.

Summary

AN AIR CONDITIONING PLANT USING ICE AS THE COLD SOURCE WAS STUDIED. THE ICE PRODUCED IN WINTER WITH A SNOW MACHINE OF A TYPE USED IN SKI RESORTS IS STORED IN AN INSULATED ICE POND TILL SUMMER. IN SUMMER, THE WATER PUMPED FROM THE POND IS USED FOR AIR CONDITIONING. THIS PROCESS REDUCES ENERGY REQUIREMENTS COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL COOLING SYSTEMS.
