Type of article: Article

Summary

DESCRIBES DUAL COOLING MEDIA/STAGED REFRIGERATION (DCM/SR) SYSTEM. TELLS HOW IT CAN REDUCE ENERGY DEMAND AND OPERATING COSTS IN LARGE HVAC INSTALLATIONS. THE SYSTEM EMPLOYS A DUAL STAGE HEAT RECOVERY CHILLER THAT IMPROVES THE EFFICIENCY OF ENERGY FLOWS AND CUTS REFRIGERATION POWER CONSUMPTION. PROVIDES A SIMPLIFIED SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM OF THE SYSTEM PLUS AN ALTERNATIVE SYSTEM WHICH EMPLOYS A MULTICELL COOLING TOWER OPTION. THE BASIS OF THE PROCEDURE IS TO SHIFT COOLING LOADS FOR MECHANICAL COOLING EQUIPMENT WHICH CONSUMES CONSIDERABLE AMOUNTS OF ENERGY TO EVAPORATIVE CHILLING OR LIQUID SORBENT DEHUMIDIFICATION, WHICH USES FAR LESS.
