A permanent magnet rotary magnetic refrigerator.

Author(s) : CHEN Y. G., TANG Y. B., WANG B. M., et al.

Summary

A permanent magnet rotary magnetic refrigerator is designed, built and tested. The refrigerator uses 0.5 mm Gd particles as working materials and water as heat transfer fluid. NdFeB permanent magnets provide a magnetic field of 1.5 T. Wheel comprising working materials is driven by motor to move in and out the magnetic field. At an optimal water flow flux and frequency of magnetization and demagnetization, the refrigerator produces a maximum temperature span of 11.5 K and a cooling power of 40 W at 6.7 K temperature span.
