A pid-law-combining fuzzy controller for HVAC applications.

Author(s) : HUANG S., NELSON R. M.

Summary

The paper describes a fuzzy logic controller for HVAC applications. By use of a fuzzy rule-based system, the properties of a conventional proportional-integral-derivative (PID) control algorithm can be greatly improved. A guideline for building the fuzzy rule-based system is developed, and the membership functions for the fuzzy sets are chosen to be probability distribution functions. A computer simulation has been developed to test the new control algorithm. The results show impressive performances of the proposed PID-law-combining fuzzy controller (PFC).
