Author(s) : YAO G. H., GONG M. Q., WU J. F.

Summary

An investigation of a reciprocating room temperature active magnetic refrigerator using the "continuous cycle" was carried out in this work. In the experimental rig two reciprocating regenerative beds packed with 414.8 g of gadolinium are used, helium gas is used as a heat transfer fluid, and an average 1.5 T magnetic field is supplied by one permanent magnet. The refrigerator was operated at the gas pressures of 1.00, 1.67 and 2.41 MPa, combined with the operating frequencies of 0.5 and 0.9 Hz. With this apparatus, the maximum no heat load temperature span of 11.98 K was obtained.
