THE AUTHOR MEASURED TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN AN OPEN TOP FREEZER CABINET BOTH EMPTY AND FULL. THE CABINET TEMPERATURE WAS REDUCED FROM 294 K (21 DEG C) TO BELOW 257 K (-16 DEG C) IN LESS THAN 4 HRS, WHEN EMPTY, BUT AFTER FILLING, TEMPERATURES RANGED FROM 264 TO 249 K (-9 TO -24 DEG C) AFTER 170 HR. THE EFFECT OF LID OPENING WAS ALSO INVESTIGATED AS WAS POWER CONSUMPTION OVER A LIMITED PERIOD AT UNSTATED CONDITIONS G. R. S.
